Thuso Rasetapa
Teacher, athlete and inclusion leader
Thuso Rasetapa was born in 1970 and contracted poliomyelitis at the age of two, leaving him paralysed from the waist down. Despite the difficulties, he continued his studies and became a primary school teacher, a profession he has practised for more than 21 years as a wheelchair user.
In 2000 he cofounded the Botswana Paralympic Association, promoting sport for people with disabilities. Since 2023 he has practised handcycling, taking part in numerous races in Botswana and South Africa.
He currently collaborates with Botswana Council for the Disabled and, in October 2026, will take part in the 1,000 km Gaborone-Kasane Handcycling Epic, promoting inclusion, sport and equal opportunities.
